Organizing your closets can be a daunting task, but with a systematic
approach, it can become much more manageable. Our new homes in Retreat
at Mountain View Ranch, Casa Grande, AZ have definitely got closet space!
Here are some steps to help you organize your closets effectively:

  1. Empty the closet: Start by removing all items from the closet. This allows you to
see everything you have and evaluate what you want to keep, sell, donate, or
    discard.
  2. Sort and declutter: Go through each item and decide whether to keep, sell,
donate, or throw away. Consider if you have used the item in the past year, if it’s
in good condition, and if it holds sentimental value. Now you also have the option
to sell items that are desirable and in very good condition. Be honest with
yourself and let go of things you no longer need.
  3. Clean the closet: Before putting items back into the closet, take the opportunity
to clean it thoroughly. Dust shelves, vacuum or sweep the floor, and wipe down
    any surfaces.
  4. Categorize items: Group similar items together. For example, organize clothes by
type (shirts, pants, dresses) or by season. This will make it easier to find what
    you need later on.
  5. Utilize storage solutions: Invest in storage solutions that maximize the space in
your closet. This may include shelves, hanging organizers, storage bins, or shoe
racks. Use these tools to create designated areas for different categories of
    items.
  6. Maximize vertical space: Utilize the vertical space in your closet by installing
hooks or hanging organizers on the inside of the doors. This can provide
additional storage for accessories, belts, or scarves.
  7. Use clear containers: If possible, store items in clear containers or transparent
bags. This allows you to easily see what’s inside without having to open every
    container.
  8. Label and maintain: Label the different sections or containers in your closet to
help you stay organized. Regularly maintain the organization by returning items
to their designated places after use.
  9. Donate or discard unused items: To prevent clutter from accumulating again,
make it a habit to periodically reassess your closet and remove items you no
longer use or need. Donate them to charity or discard them responsibly.
  10. Maintain a system: Finally, establish a system that works for you and stick to it.
Make a conscious effort to keep your closets organized by following the steps
    above and regularly maintaining them.
Remember, organizing your closets is an ongoing process. It’s important to establish
good habits and periodically reassess your belongings to keep your closets tidy and
functional so you don’t get overwhelmed.
